Took this picture in my parents side yard with the camera on a tripod the lense on Macro at about 250mm with a flash. It was about 4pm and a nice day. The nearest items in the background were about 150 yards away and they were evergreen trees.. I was shocked the way these photo's came out

Jeff,

Welcome to TN! This is a great way to start of your TN experience. I keep repeating myself but this is an awesome community. It has some great photographers sharing their pictures and knowledge here with us so there is always lots of room for learning new tricks. Be careful though, it gets addictive! This is a superb first post. I'll be looking for more of your work.

Best Regards,

Martin

Jeff,

Great first post. I usually don't like to chop off the bird's wings or tail. But for some reasons, this one really worked. I love it. Great POV. The only thing that I would do to make this photo better is NOTHING! It's brilliant captured!

Binh Nguyen

Excellent first post!!!

Awesome shot Jeff,
Looks like your getting started on the right track here at TN.
Excellent sharpness and detail with wonderful colours. Love the tiny yellow speckles on the throat area. Very good job of stopping the wings in motion for a really nice effect.
Well done!!

Hello Jeff,

Nice capture of this Hummingbird. POV and diagonal compo looks good.

Well, I shall keep it simple..."perfect".... regards h

Using your flash really set your little bird off nicely against the black background and gave you a nice catch light in the eye too.
Great first posting. Welcome to TN.
