A new series of photos are coming up, most of which will be more fall color shots of the Aspens and again they are all from Bear Lake, like the last series.

This one is of Longs Peak from Bear lake, this is one of the last shots I took of the night, it was a very cloudy and stormy daybut towards sunset the clouds broke up just enough for a dramatic lighting

Longs Peak is just left of center and is at an elevation of 14,255 feet (4359 meters), it is the tallest peak in Rocky Mountain National Park and is rated a class 3 (scrambling) and highly exposed climb, and a long one on average about 17 hours to do the trip. It is a significant mountain. This route is called the Keyhole route and is the only non-technical route up Longs Peak, all other routes are considered technical, either it is rock climbing or glacier climbing or mixed glacier and rock climbing. I myself have never done Longs Peak but would love to. The standard Route up Longs, the Keyhole route is still a very serious route and has alone taken the lives of nearly 30 people. So the easiest route which is also the most popular has taken a fair deal amount of lives.

Longs Peak also has a very dramatic cliff on it's eastern face being nearly 3000 foot rock cliff. It has been climbed on occasion and has as well taken several lives, it is called the Diamond Route, because there is a sheer rock wall shaped like a diamond and makes up over 2000 of the 3000 foot cliff.

Hi Paul
What a gorgeous view this is. I love all the different colours, especially in the sky. The reflection in the water creates more interest. Looks like a nice place to explore.

This is a nice clear shot, I do like the colour reflecting off of clouds in the back! Overall the colours in the scene really do compliment eachother.

Hi Paul,
I love the soft toned colors of the setting sun in this photo a lot. it gives the photo a great tranquil touch. The reflection and lighting are both great. Maybe you could have used that rock a little better and used it more as a FG element.
