Although this was taken during the waning days of winter in Wyoming, the light is exactly the same as in early winter. The light and color matches exactly what I see from my studio window as a write this evening here in Oregon. We had a snow storm last night and today the temperatures have been low (around 20F)... though there has been some blue sky and clouds. Very beautiful. I'm sure there must me some noise in this image but it isn't visible on my monitor at this size.

Hello Evelynn

Lovely tones and hues of blue.
We had a warm day here,it reached 50F and rained.
I really like the various horizons and lines.
The mountain peaks look terrific.
You have captured some lovely reflections.

Great shot Evelynn,
The lighting is beautiful in this wonderful, but looks to be very cold image!! I love the reflection you captured along with those very majestic looking mountains. You really have some soft colorful shades of blue in this photo.
We've been having some pretty nasty weather lately also, but right now all our snow is gone. It was actually not too bad out today. I've been really busy at church with our Christmas Cantata so I haven't had much time to get on lately. TFS.

Beautiful picture, nice reflections , I liked the magestic blue and the sharpness of the image .. Great shot Evelynn :)

Hallo Evelynn
A great portrayal of the ambience and the tranquillity of nature. A very peaceful and relaxing scene to look at, the snow on the mountains and the striking blue colours and the mirror image in the water beautifully captured. Amazing textures and the difficult subject is very well captured. Attractive composition with great details. A cold looking but refreshing image. Thanks for sharing
Kind regards
Anna

I love the blue before dawn and after dusk and here you have it. I love the blackness in the middle as a separator... and there is puzzlement in what is contained in teh blackness. Nice.
Barry

Hi Evelynn!

Oh, you certainly imagine how much I like this! The ambience is superb, the sky and the reflection are wonderful. It's the kind of atmosphere that I particularly like and that I'm looking for when I go to the mountains. I prefer this to the deep blue and cloudless sky as I have shown it in my last posting...

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Evelynn!

However you managed this shot to be so good in this low light it really is wonderful! And this time I mean it double or sg :)
Everything together for a perfect composition, and you kept the blue dominance for the night atmosphere.
Really an amazing shot, TFS!

Best regards,
Andor

Hi Evelynn

I am so envious right now! I've been trying desperately to talk at least one of my friends in going to the mountains these days with me and none won't do it (either because of work or simply hey don't feel like it)...and you have THIS view from your study?!?!? AHHHHH!!!
:)
It's a beautiful sight with a perfect feeling for the time now.
The low-light conditions add a special atmosphere to the scene, while the snow counteracts that and brigs some more light in, in some parts of the frame.
The mountains in the BG are grand and their reflection, although mall, is still lovely.
Very nicely composed and taken.

Bravo and TFS
Horia

PS: did you use a grad filter here? or did you blend exposure? or is it just one simple shot?

Hello Evelynn,
You excel with landscapes my friend but they are usually so colorful but this cool blue is stunning as well. Receding snow drifts with receding light but very calming to view. Thanks Evelynn.

Hello Evelynn,
This is a very beautiful capture across the water to the impressive mountains beyond. Excellent DOF and I love the 'cool' colours and the reflections in the still water. Very well composed too.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

I am sort of chuckling to myself..it might take a while....and I'm not gonna go look but I seem to remember you speaking about the blue snow in one of my images.:-))) I like it..I have read quite a bit about the science behind the optics and how we perceive white and especially snow in certain lights..That alone makes this image superior!

Superb compositon Evelynn, you used all the elements here perfectly to create extreme depth and interest throughout...Exposure is perfect too...my envy of your exploits continues to grow daily! Very well done, you captured the essence and mood of this scene very well.
Paul

hello Evelynn

superb shot of Mountain/Landscapes, with very fine POV and DOF,
i love the black silhouettes of the vegetations and to see
the vegetation on the water with reflexion,
the hard tones of colours are giving dynamism to the image,

Hi Evelynn,
There are many wonderful elements in this photo. I really like the blue light and the shape of the tetons against the light yellow glow. And, of course all photos of the Tetons have some form of impressiveness over it. But as I mentioned in my e-mail, I find the dark landmass in the center of the photo breaking the photo up in two parts. It is also the most contrasty area, and as you mentioned many times this is where the eye is drawn to. Looking at this photo many times, I knew that there was one other thing slightly bothering me. At first I did not know what it was, but I finnaly realized it. The highest peak, which is also the only reflected one, is in the vertical center of the photo. That one should have been on the 1/3 axis.
TFS,
Niek

Dear Evelynn,
Your compositions are unique & they perse speak volumes about your talents. Your students would have had been so lucky to have a teacher like you, who could teach them through nature. I appreciate this landscape with unique reflections of the weed/grass into the water (as object is not visible but in reflection its clear), good light effect & colors. TFS.
Regards-Subhash

Hello Evelynn,
Very beautiful scene, good sharpness and depth of field, lovely light and colors.
Angela

Hi Evelynn,
I had a look at this shot when you uploaded it and now I think I would like to say a little something. This is such an excellent looking photo with the light being as it is and I too have seen light like this looking west from where I live to the mountains. The details are well rendered and are a reason for me to starting using my tripod more than I do as I have rarely done landscapes, this inspires me.The colour pallet is minimalist in the subtle shades of gray and blue with just a hint of yellow that are shown. The reflections of mountains on the melt water add much interest to this well composed and sharply detailed photo.Overall this composition is well balanced and the workshop photo, also. Thanks for giving us a chance to see this early springtime photo. Hi Evelynn

This makes me shiver just looking at it, everything about this shot says cold. I love the cold colour tones and the winter light. Amazing landscape perfectly framed.

Evelynn,
This is very beautiful shot, wow, I was considering going to yellowstone/Grand Teton this winter, just to see it in different setting, but it was just too difficult and fairly expensive. I don't like cold that much anyway. This looks wonderful with some snow, so drammatic. Thanks

Hello Evelynn,
Mountains...they're fascinating and -let's face it- a bit scary. Maybe it's 'cause they are scary that they are fascinating. Well partially...
Anyway you probably visit these giants a lot and you shared grizzlies as well. So no problem for you.
It's well done!
TFS
Annick

THis is a very nice shot. It looks freezing! We have recieved some cold nights here, in the -30c area! I love how the mountains look so smooth in the background. Very nicely done!

Hi Evelynn,

This is just awesome landscape. Excellent capture with mild colors and tone...The reflection looks great on calm water as well. Thanks for sharing this wonderful photograph.
