Hi Bob,
Congratulations on your first TN post. Very well captured bird with good details and fine pov. Have to agree with Silvio as you are allowed a bigger and more details image here in TN.
Keep up the good work and have a wonderful weekend ahead.

Hello Bob, welcome to TrekNature.
This is an unusual bird - well, for me it is. Very pretty colours and quite good to see.
Your photo is too small - you can post up to 800 pixels wide or high and up to 300kss too.
And it would be good if you wrote notes about your subject too. I suggest you read the Rules of TN:
Descriptive Notes"
* Members are strongly encouraged to post descriptive notes with their photos. Notes help provide other members with information about your shot and help them to tailor their critiques to your specific needs. Shots without notes tend to receive less feedback than shots with descriptive notes.
* Notes may be written in any language.

Hallo Bob
Welcome to Trek Nature. I hope you have a pleasant, enjoyable and educational voyage on the site. This is such a delightful bird to look at. The different shades of colours divided into segments around the facial and neck area is striking. It is like pieces of a puzzle that fit into one another just at the right place. The polka dot markings on the chest are beautiful and the patterns on the back feathers just as lovely. You have captured this beauty with great clarity and detail. Focus, sharpness and overall presentation is super and there are plenty of unmentioned details to appreciate. A lovely image to start your journey.
Best regards.
Anna

Hello Bob, Welcome to TN.
Wonderful image of the Flicker, the sharpness and detail are great. The colors are gorgeous and the exposure is right on the money. Well done!! TFS.

This is really a good photo, but I think some editing would improve it even more, so I did a workshop on it. I hope you find it useful. Gary

Wish I could see it larger, since you did such a wonderful job of focus, even to the tiny ruffle of light breast feathers contrasted against the darker feathers of the wing, or the fringe visible along the neck below the beak.
I have never gotten a decent shot of this bird. Generally, in my Northern Virginia yard, they avoid feeders and prefer ground-feeding, particularly anthills. The grass (and the distance) foil me every time. I'm not sure I've *ever* seen a photo of this species as fine as the one you present here, despite many internet searches for same.

Another well composed, sharp shot. After your comment on my butterfly photo, I've decided to take part in the spring Monarch Watch. You mentioned you're involved in similar census projects. I think we do our little part in the preservation of not just the species but also the phenomena.
