Yesterday was our warmest day of the year with temperatures just a little over 60F. On such a nice day I decided to stretch my legs and go for a walk to a pond near where we live. There was still ice on the pond, but the geese were all ready there looking for a little open water. When I took this picture, this guy was just standing in one place on the ice stretching his wings. It was a great day to do that.

Another sign that spring is not to far off, we had our first 2 Red-winged Black birds in the yard yesterday, with many more to follow. I spent a half an hour trying to get their picture, but they kept going behind the branches of the trees so there was never a clear shot. But, there will be.

For those that might not know this is a Canada Goose.

Have a great day - Bob

Hello Bob,
This is a beautiful capture in action! I love the light in this picture and excellent details on the Goose's wings. Catch-light in his eye is wonderful! I can't wait to see them coming back our way. Well seen!
Claudine

Hi Bob,

Good action, detail, composition and pose in this image. You have calculated the exposure very well accentuating the subject but subduing the ice. The weather there looks just too cold for this South African. Our water does not come in this strange solid form.

Robin

hello Bob

beautiful photography of the Canada Goose
shot with fine POV, DOF and framing,
i love that golden light coming on the subject,
and the excellent contrast between the goose's
warm colour tones and the ice's cold colour tones,
