[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The grand vistas that the Great Smoky Mountian National Park offers are magnificent, especially in October at the peak of the fall colors. However, I am equally enthralled by the sights, smells, sounds and textures one encounters up close. I didn't taste anything... Except an english muffin with raisins and PB :)

This shot is from the Alum Cave Trail. It was cool enough that I had to put on a jacket when I quit hiking for a few minutes. Alum Cave is a ten-mile hike to the top of Mt. Le Conte and back. I stopped on a business trip. It was the first hiking I had done in a while.

Hi Jason,
This looks like a nice area with limestone outcrops. I'm a long time caver,so I love limestone forest shots.
You've chosen a difficult subject.
Forest can be very difficult to shoot, especially in dappled sunlight.
Even though it seems bright, you often need to use a tripod and longer exposure to clearly capture all the features in the dimmer areas.
What is Alum Cave itself like, any formations?
Cheers & TFS
Steve
