Another in my series of Goose shots. I hope you don't mind. We have a lot of them around and most of time they don't mind being my subjects. I am learning to take most of my shots shooting in Manual mode with my Canon XTi. There is somewhat of a learning curve but once I am comfortable with it, I think it will work very well. This shot and my last deer picture were both shot using manual mode. I won't tell you many pictures I trashed, but I think the final result worked out ok.

Hi Bob,
to use a camera in manual mode is a very good way to learn more about the camera.
This is a nice picture with good POV and fine details.
But I think the colours are to brownish, maybe some wrong with the white balance.
Well done.

This is a fine and superb portrait of the goose and yes, we trash a lot of pictures when shooting manual! ;-))) I like the sharpness and the way the goose looks straight at you through the lens. Very nicely framed too, the composition is A1. Like Gert, I think the white balance is too brownish but at the same time, it goes wel with the leafy background. thank you for a nice portrait!

The frist thing You have to do before take any photos is to
Set your camera in Aperture. in this case f/4 or f/5.6 and change it while you are taking photos.
