View from the VDOT Memorial Overlook
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|We don't often think of how dangerous it can be to maintain the state's highways. The VDOT memorial honours state highway transportation workers who died on the job. The names of 131 employees who died between 1928 and 2005 are engraved on the memorial. The memorial is on a large grassy area within the second scenic pulloff on I-64, east of Afton Mountain between mile markers 103 and 104. The design shows three profiles of workers wearing hard hats cut into black, white and gray granite layers. The layers reflect the diversity of VDOT's employees. An open profile at one end implies a "missing" worker and lets visitors see the scenic view of the overlook.|

This is a basic landscape that one would easily pass by on the gallery, but it has lots of lovely details to look at and admire once you stop and have a closer look. It consists of layers upon layers of colours of the various elements of nature. In the foreground the large green trees, then a layer of greenery of the surface, in the far distance the blue-grey mountians and far back the different layers of colour in the sky. I think it is beautiful. Best regards and thanks for sharing.
I like this picture, with the mountains in the bg, with nice sky, with heavy clouds, in fact I think with raining clouds after some shadows . Well done!
