[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This Western Yellow Jacket (Vespula pensylvanica) decided to take on an abandoned grape, straddling it to keep the treat in place.

I watched this Yellow Jacket for several minutes as he tried to figure out a way to get to the juice. Finally, he climbed on it, but not before the grape rolled once or twice. I suppose if it had been a man then the size of the grape might have been equivelent to a bull?

Much amused, I took several shots and then headed home. However, by the end of the day, my hatred and fear of these insects would rise to a new level.

While walking my dog, I managed to get stung, not once - but twice - in the neck. I swear it went for the jugular - and nailed me very close to where it's located.

I now have a large lump on the side of my neck; I plan to tell folks it's a hicky, but doubt I'll be believed.

Now I want to get even - with my shoe. I guess you could say I'm feeling waspish over the incident - and yes, I'm still angry over the double sting because the dang thing still hurts!

Keep snapping and stay safe.
Kathy :-)
