[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a macro of Pinus contorta or the Lodgepole Pine, large forests of which still manage somehow to cover parts of the western United States. These trees happen to be in Yellowstone National Park in the Bechler region, which is in the little visited southwest section of the park. It was raining, as you can tell, and so rain drop macros were the order of the day.

These are two-needle conifers, and the trunks are nice straight--perfect for teepees or "lodges" as they are called here. Their cones are extremely hard. It takes a fire, usually, to open them up. So when the famous fires of Yellowstone happened several years ago, it actually helped to reseed Yellowstone, adding diversity and ultimately more beauty to the park as a whole. The fires did not come to this area, though.

Welcome to TN David. The artistic approach in the photo combined with the excellent note on the tree is true TN spirit from the start. You set a high standard with your 1st note and photo. Keep 'em comming...

Very nice David love the lens effect of the raindrops and the feel of a very damp day.

David, Artistic shot with a simplicty that is refreshing & at the same time relaxing. It has a moody introspective feel that is un-mistakable..Good info. on this. Welcome to TN & hope to see more of your work!

The direction of these branches make an excellent composition and drops add to the impact. I like the game of the light.

Hi David
This is also Nature, and this is beautiful. I think we can get better, just observing all this beauty around us, taking time to watch at the small world, discovering with new eyes this kind of details.
Thank you for this excellent image.

Hi David!
I too am a bit of a raindrops freak and love this one.
Thanks for your kind comment on one of my pictures.

Nice detail shot. And I appreciate the details on your photographer's note, too.

Hi David, I love the contrast between the soft roundness of the water droplets and the hard linear nature of the pine needles. Between the light of the water and the dark pine. I also like the composition very much. It's very well captured, well done :)
