Time flies but some lichen and moss live on for much longer than we do. I certainly got my fill of hospital and came close by a millimeter to dying....so still in wheelchair and not allowed to drive til next year. So archives it is...

This was taken at Turnbull Wildlife Refuge, south of Cheney, WA. There is one small access road with parking but it is more of a trail-head than a good place to take images...and I dedicate this to Ulla for all her wonder lichen and moss images..

Ulla loves lichens and mosses and will certainly appreciate this one.
The wavy vertical reddish threads coming from the moss gives this image an aquatic feeling: I can almost see a small fish swimming among them...
Enjoy your weekend Bob,
Ivan

Namastay Bob,
A lovely capture of these mosses. I have seen these in Darjeeling which has rather colder climate. Good composition. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Sincerely
Haraprasan.

Hello Bob,
I'm amazed you remember my like for mosses and lichens and thank you so much for your dedication! I like the long red stalks holding the fruit capsules! Not that I'd be able to identify it, the variety of mosses seems endless! A fine capture taken in beautiful light and in natural colours.
TFS and I hope you'll soon be out and about again!
Kind regards, Ulla

A stunner, yet again!
Cheers!

Hi Bob,

The subject is well framed. The point of view is allowing me to distinguish the details and colord of the lichen and moss. It is clear and precise. The morning light is bringing out the colors. have a nice day.

Hello Bob,
I have tried many times to take a descent shot of this type of moss, but have never been satisfied with the outcome. This is indeed a great shot showing excellent detail and wonderful DOF. TFS.
