While waiting still for my electric wheelchair, I borrowed Janes to come out and see our maples. I call them ours because they used to be our morning wakeup window. This was taken today, hand held wwith my HD movie camera.

Acer (pronounced /ˈeɪsər/) a genus of trees or shrubs commonly known as Maple.

Maples are variously classified in a family of their own, the Aceraceae, or together with the Hippocastanaceae included in the family Sapindaceae. Modern classifications, including the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group system, favour inclusion in Sapindaceae. The type species of the genus is Acer pseudoplatanus (Sycamore Maple).

There are approximately 129 species, most of which are native to Asia, with a number also appearing in Europe, northern Africa, and North America.

The word Acer is derived from a Latin word meaning "sharp" (compare "acerbic"), referring to the characteristic points on maple leaves. It was first applied to the genus by the French botanist Joseph Pitton de Tournefort in 1700. A red maple leaf is the prominent feature of the flag of Canada.

Hi Bob,all the colors of the automn coming in your composition. And what a perfect light balance and impressive sharpness,i can count the leaves..ehehe..very well done, have a nice day and thanks,Luciano

Does my heart good to see that you've been out where you love to be, Bob, and continuing to capture the beauty that blesses us, especially this time of year. Thanks for the mini-education on maples, too -- that was interesting. I like how you captured the transition that marks these first days of robust color -- reds, greens, golds, and in-betweens. It's delightful. You got good lighting, too, and turned it to advantage.

Warm regards,
Jim

Hi Bob,

The subject is well framed. The point of view is showing the details of the maple leaves at different level of the fall colors. The light is bringing out the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre
