Prothonotary Warbler (Protonotaria citrea)

From my trip to Magee Marsh

These birds are declining in numbers due to loss of habitat. They are also parasitized by the Brown-headed Cowbird (Molothrus ater), or outcompeted for nest sites by the House Wren (Troglodytes aedon). It is listed as Endangered in Canada.

This bird was named after officials in the Roman Catholic Church known as the protonotarii, who wore golden robes. It was once known as the Golden Swamp Warbler. (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Beautiful flaming gold Mario. It's good to see it's found a meal. Hope to see more of these warblers from you. TFS Trevor

Hello Mario,
Another wonderfully balanced shot of lighting, exposure and natural coloration. These little birds are a favorite of mine making this image a special treat to view. Love the clean BG and the fact that you captured him with his dinner.
Well done!!
PS. I will be going back up this Saturday, so maybe I might luck out and get a shot of one too.
