[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The courtship flight of the male Allen's Hummingbird is a frantic back and forth flight arc of about 25 feet similar to the motion of a swinging pendulum, followed by a high-speed dive from about 100 feet.

The male is also highly aggressive and territorial. Hot-tempered despite its diminutive stature, a male Allen's Hummingbird will chase any other males from its territory, as well as any other hummingbird species, and they have even been known to attack and rout predatory birds several times larger than themselves such as kestrels and hawks.

This lil one darted away right after this capture

Hello Brenda,
beautiful capture of this hummingbird with wonderful colours and good sharpness (both even better in the workshop of Peter). I also like its pose with the head turned to the right.
Best wishes,

Hello Brenda,
This is just beautiful. He posed for you and gave you the best profiel that he could. And you must have a steady hand at F5.6, 100mm focal lenth and 1/75th second exposure. Well done indeed. I could not resist the temptaion of doing a workshop and I apologise if you do not approve. I notice PeterZ has also done a workshop and, as you have probably noticed, he is a very accomplished bird photographer. But let me say again...very beautiful as is. Best wishes.

Great capture of this Humming bird in that pose with a good POV. Beautiful colours with a contrasting BG. Well done.

Hello Brenda,
The Allens and Rufous are two of the only hummingbirds with this beautiful dominate coloration. A marvelous capture with just a tiny bit of overexosure on the breast. Well done!

Hi Brenda,
Excellent photo presentation fo this species, very good sharpness and details, useful description too, TFS!

Hi Brenda,
Beautiful first plane of the always wonderful hummingbirds.
You've got nice light and pose on your subject.
The dark and smooth background works great to stand out the feather's colours.
The only nit would be the slightly overexposed whites, on which we loose some details there.
Well done and thanks for share it.
Best regards,
