This is a juvenile black-crowned night heron (Nycticorax nycticorax, which means "night raven")...a name due to its noturnal habits and raucous crow-like call. The breeding habitat is fresh and salt-water wetlands throughout much of the world. As an adult, it stands about 65 cm high and has a white plumage with black crown and red eyes. It feeds on crustaceans, fish, reptiles, small birds, and small mammals. |

Quite an over-powering portrait of this interesting bird, Michael.
The picture is very sharp and I like that blue sky for BG.

Very nice shot Michael. I like the DOF and the focus is good. You framed it well. His hair feathers make him look very comical as if he demands your attention. Very cute bird indeed. LOL TFS Trevor
