[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I was up at Magee Marsh this past Saturday hoping to capture some warbler photos. This Scarlet Tanager was a bonus bird that I wasn't really expecting to get a shot of.

I occasionally see a Tanager or two while birding up at Magee every spring, but they are usually at the most tip top branches of the tallest trees. I was thrilled to find this particular bird perched about 50 foot up and in the open.

The Scarlet Tanager in breeding plumage is quite a sight to see in it's vivid red colors. The bird in nonbreeding plumage is another story altogether. Both the male and the female are an olive green color. The male keeps his black wings and tail color all year long.

Living in mature woodlands, especially Oak and Pine, they can be found from extreme southeastern Canada to east-central United States.

Hello Ron,
A striking bird indeed! And looking kindly towards the photographer. Well composed picture with the branch used as diagonal. I just wonder if you didn't use a little too much" smoothing" PP-tool.
