[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Just trying out my new "pre-owned" 300 mm lens on a rather nasty wintery day here - this nuthatch was conveniently close for a reasonable shot. I'm waiting to get my TC-14 E II teleconvertor to move it up to 400mm equivalent so I can get slightly larger shots from a distance and a sunny day so I can stop down from full aperture. ISO 1600.

Hi Alan,
Breathtaking shot with pleasant composition and many details. Even the ascomycota fungi (probably Diatrype sp.) under the bird's right leg may be seen well! Top notch photo! Bravo!
Have a great festive season, best regards, László

Hello Alan,
Looks to me like your 300MM is doing just fine. Love it's curious stance and good eye contact that you managed to capture.
I have tried teleconvertors from time to time, but never seem to get the quality of focus that I had hoped for when using one. I admit I usually don't use a tripod, so maybe that alone would make a world of differance.

nice capture of this jumpy bird, TFS Ori

Hi Alan,

You're capturing well this Nuthatch by a good compositin/focus and very excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the cute Nuthatch with the back of blue gray, white belly and a short tail. You catch a good pose at which the bird has stopped to a sprig horizontally.

Kind regards,
