This was hard for me to crop down to the size need for the upload, but this cottontail rabbit was out in my yard eating our grass. It stood up when is was questioning what I was doing and was making up its mind on whether it should hop off.

I am so blessed to live by wooded areas and have so many animals come and visit.

This is from wiki:

Cottontail rabbits are among the 17 lagomorph species in the genus Sylvilagus, found in the Americas.[1]

In appearance, most cottontail rabbits closely resemble the wild European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). Most Sylvilagus species have stub tails with white undersides that show when they retreat; giving them their name, "cottontails". This feature is not present in some cottontails (for example, the underside of the brush rabbit's tail is gray), nor is it unique to the genus (for example, the European rabbit also has a white scut).

The genus is widely distributed across North America, Central America, and northern and central South America, though most species are confined to particular regions. Most (though not all) species live in nests called forms, and all have altricial young.

Cottontail rabbits show a greater resistance to myxomatosis than European rabbits.

Hello Elena,
You did a fine job of photographing this cute little bunny. His unique features can easily be seen as he politely poses upright for your camera. Looks like he got a tiny chunk taken out of his right ear. Excellent focus and beautiful natural colors. Great work Elena!!

Lovely POV , those big eyes , with little catch light and the rim lighting on the ears, sharp details make this a beautiful picture to watch. I would have loved to see a bigger size image

Hi Elena

It is difficult to catch rabbits on camera, and yours is a nice one in lovely pose ears all straight up, in rapt attention and all set to run..Small but still beautiful image.
