[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This bird flew into my back yard today. Its the first time I have seen it, and had to spend about 30 minutes hunting through the Internet and Field Guide to Birds of America to identify it.

Pheucticus ludiovicianus

The field guide says it is rarely seen as it feeds on seeds and berries in bushes and trees.

Of course, as I rushed to get my camera it managed to fly away and perch high up in one of my trees rather than conveniently for the photographer close to the feeder that attracted it!! No time to set up on a tripod either, so the Sigma vibration management seems to have worked well here.

Hi Alan,in effect the pic is very sharp also without the tripod,a lovely specie not often seen on TN in a great exposure and perfect sharpness,i like it! Have a nice week and thanks,LUCIANO

Hello Alan,
Credit goes to you to capture this beautiful species even in such unfriendly light in the BG; almost perfect exposure, except dark neck portion. Details on white parts look good.
Thanks for sharing this rare species,

Hello Alan,
A great shot of the male Rose-breasted Grosbeak. We have had a pair visiting our feeder for that past few years. Wonderful detail and bright rich colors. I adore their ivory colored beaks and vivid red markings on their chest.

hello Alain
C'est bien observé, bonne prise avec des couleurs bien visibles.
