[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Not the best of shots, but something to use to wish you all a Happy New Decade!!

We are having an unusually warm period now, even though we are already in January, so birds (and people) are active outside.

Taken in my neighborhood today as he worked over an old branch high in a tree. I first heard his distinctive knocking sound as he dug into the tree for an insect, but he was much too high up to get a really good shot, and, of course, surrounded by branches just to make life harder for the photographer!!

Pileated_Woodpecker

The Pileated Woodpecker is a very large woodpecker with a long neck and a triangular crest that sweeps off the back of the head. The bill is long and chisel-like, about the length of the head. In flight, the wings are broad and the bird can seem crowlike.

Hello Alan,
Wildlife photography is really challenging and difficult. Although unfriendly location but you did focus well on its eye. Beautiful Woodpecker. Details looks good.
Keep shooting 🙂
Thanks for sharing,
Regards,
Srikumar
