Damselflies: Smaller, more delicate will fold wings when at rest. Wings are narrow at base. Weak flyers. Eyes projecting.

WINGS: 4 - long, same-sized, veined wings
METAMORPHOSIS: Gradual (egg, nymph, adult). Nymphs are aquatic and feed on Mosquitoe larvae.
MOUTH: Chewing
FEATURES: Large, often beautifully coloured insects with long, slender bodies, but short antennae.

Dragonflies and damselflies speed, agility and excellent sight all work to their benefit, making them efficient predators and difficult prey for other insect eaters. They have a very unique technique for capturing prey, too! Folding their long, bristly legs into a basket or net like shape beneath their bodies during flight, they fly around literally scooping prey right out of the air. Once prey is caught, the legs very quickly transfer it from the "trap" to their mouth.

Very nice. Great colors.

I like the pose, and the composition, the colours give a beautiful glow to the damsel. Maybe just a little soft, the main point of focus seems to be in the centre of the damsels body, leaving the critical head area just that tiny bit soft.

Wow ! What a lovely and interesting Dragonfly that you have well captured ! I also appreciate the complementary note... Congratulations Cesie and thanks for sharing.

Nice shot Cesie. This is an American Rubyspot (Hetaerina americana). Very good colors and light. Nice creamy BG also. Perhaps a bit soft-focused is all. Well done.
Thank You.
