[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This nest belongs to a Killdeer. They lay their eggs on the ground in plain sight, but they're camouflaged so well, one can't see them. This nest was in the sawdust around our blueberry bushes. When the Killdeer feels that his nest is in danger he gets up off it and moves several yards away from it. Then the bird pretends to be injured by sticking out a wing in an odd way and limps around on the ground away from the nest while screeching and making a lot of noise. When the threat has successfully been diverted from the nest he flies off and later returns to his nest. We knew we had a Killdeer in our yard, because we'd see him do his little performance, however it took us the longest time to actually find the nest.

Great Shot !

Please do not photograph birdnests. You may disturb them. In many countries you are also breaking the law doing this. Thank you.

Hi Andrea

Well observed. The nest with eggs is all naturalists wish to see.
