At first I thought this was a young Northern Mockingbird. The spotted wings tell me it must be something else. I hope someone can identify him.

Hi Jane,
You're right to dismiss it as a mockingbird, but you posed an ID problem here. My guess is that since you can just make out the barred tail looking shorter than it really is because of the POV, then this might be a Rock Wren, the spots on the back being a little exagerated.
Not a bad shot though.
