Wonderful macro of this huge grasshopper!
The great POV used let you get incredible clear details, so sharp and well exposed.
The narrow DOF gives you the whole insect in focus, with that vivid yellow color, and a beautiful soft background.
I like so much the way you managed to build the composition also.

What a beautiful specimen, kathleen.
The details are amazingly sharp, and the markings and colors are gorgeous.

Hi Kathleen

A very interesting way to take a macor shot (at a 400mm focal length)...but it worked great!
The details on this cute and colorful grasshopper came out lovely!
I really like the POV and the DOF here - which blurres the BG very nicely - fact also enhanced by the nice boukeh of the 400m.
The patterns and colors on the little subject are most charming and very well visible.
The lighting is excellent, too and so is the composition.

Excellent macro capture Kathleen with magnificent colors in contrast with the great achieved bottom.

I like it a lot: composition, POV, DOF, focus, sharpness, color, lighting, background, framing and PP.

I like it: notes.

I don't like it: nothing to grumble.

In spite of the slow speed, the sharpness of the capture is very good.
I added this image to my Thme of Grasshopper.
