Hi all,
I haven't posted for along time, almost a year I think.

This is a;
Blue-faced Honeyeater
Scientific name: Entomyzon cyanotis
Family: Meliphagidae
Order: Passeriformes

I took this photo when I was back in Australia earlier this year. It was a good trip and I had a few opportunites to get some photos. This Honey eater is in a species wattle tree I think, in my Grandmothers backyard. This tree was good focal point for a variety of bird species to gather.

This day was very bright and I had a hard time getting the exposure right. I played abit with PS but I think I lost a litte of that natural sunlight appearence.

I hope to post some more photos soon.

Hi Matthew.
How long time you were absent. However, I am very glad to see you here and watch your next picture.

You are right. Sunlight is too strong a bit but it add some unusualness and charm to the picture. Pictured scene is wonderful as well as the composition of the image. Main model – beautiful bird – is looked nicely at such cute scenery. I like combination of crisp sharp main subject and fine smooth BG and diagonal composition. DOF is great despite the open aperture. My best wishes and compliments.

Hello Matt,
You must have been close to this Blue face to get such a fine shot with a 180mm macro. This is pretty sharp and the DOF that includes the wattle flowers is excellent against anatural OOF BG. Nice composition too.
When we were in Australia our attampts at photographing this Honeyeater were not as successful as this.
So thanks for sharing this beauty,

Hello Matthew,
Very nice to see this beautiful bird again in a fine capture. Good focus on the turned head good details and beautiful colours. A very nice composition too!
TFS and regards, Ulla

Hi Mathew
This is one of my favourite birds. They zoom in for their morning feed each day near my home so I know how hard it is to capture them as they dont often let me get close! Well done on this one, I like the POV. Interesting, he has a half green/blue mask which shows he is not quite an adult. The juveniles have a green mask. TFS

Hi Matt

Hello Matth!
A lovely composition of this perfectly captured beutiful blue-faced bird. TFS.

Hi Matthew,
Where have you been, man??
I was thrilled to see that you have returned to TN. Welcome back!
You have shot the Honeyeater from a point of view that offers a fine view of this bird's beautiful plumage. With its head turned, we get to see its colours very clearly.
The foliage around the bird makes the shot quite natural.
Thanks for sharing the picture and looking forward to many more.

What a neat compact bird.....it looks sure of itself for rue...the black frame gives it much more stature than perhaps it really did! You have enhanced this aviary strength through images! How cool..
