[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A Spotted Brown (Heteronympha paradelpha) from the Family Nymphalidae. A species found in moister environments associated with wetter forests along the Great Dividing Range in southeastern Australia.

They fly only in summer from January to early April and are usually found above 4m, so photography is difficult.

This one was taken a deep gully where I was slightly elevated above a stream. The butterfly landed on this vine leaf and allow three quick shots, with flash, then it was gone into the canopy again.

Thanks for looking

Hello Chris,
Its worth having this butterfly on TN as u got it after so much efforts. U got nice POV.But flash has not done good work Its a bit overexposed(might be on my PC).Also oversharpening caused blurry outlines. Still a nice picture.

Hi Chris

Another great shot from you!
The POV is is very interesting and it works great!
Also the DOF is very well managed, the flash is well controlled and the colors are gorgeous.
I really like the contrast created here between the subject and the blurred BG, too.
Very well done!
Bravo and TFS

Hi Chris,
This unusual point of view really caught my eye! Lovely butterfly and in a very nice pose on that beautiful leaf. I like the clear pattern and colours against the dark background.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Chirs this is beautiful shot, good DOF..

Hi Chris,
beautiful shining colours in front of the deep and dark background. Good details in spite of a difficult to handle approach from the side that looks lively and dynamical.
Well captured, and nicely composed.
Thank you! Best regards,
