Another delicate agaric fungi, this one is (Mycena epipterygia). This species grows on rotting wood in rainforest through eastern Australia, and that is exactly where I found it in Robertson Nature Reserve about 100km south of Sydney.

The fungi have a cap with a diameter of 2 cm and the stem on these ones was about 6 cm and 2mm thick. The cap is olive-brown in colour and gills had a very pale yellow tint to them. The species is supposed to smell like cucumber, but I couldn’t detect anything, though it was cold and rainy when I was in the forest.

Like the previous fungi I posted, the flash was diffused by placing a folded cotton handkerchief over it

Hello Chris,
Very fine composition showing these little Mycena fungi. I like the POV very much and details are sharp and colours fine. I like the natural background too. The flash has worked very well here.
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hi Chris!
Really nice mushroom presentation. I like POV showing the "3-floor" fungi composition. DOF and colouration of photo are also very good.
TFS and best regards,

Hi Chris.
Neat composition, they look great. The diffused flash has worked well, nice light, not harsh. I think I have seen these here also. Good DOF making them ping out from the background.

hello, Chris

Very well organized composition. Elements in a strong visula diagonal line. Beautiful warm colours.
I think we got this specie of Mycena, or something similar in Eastern Europe too. These species are quite worldwide distributed. I'll come back with a name after checking out some determinator books.

Cheers, Petru

Hi Chris,
I like the progression of the mushrooms acroos the picture, it carries the eye over your picture to take in the whole image. Well seen and composed,

What a precise DOF work, and what a beautiful compostion for this beauties. It is amazing how variable this specie can be.
Hope you keep up with this lovely mycological posts.
Best regards, Felipe.

Chris, this is very beautiful.

Excellent sharpness, pov and composition. I like the blurred bg too.

An excellent job.

Another great fungi macro Chris.
You've captured this mycena very well.
Great DOF colour and detail.
Cheers, Steve

Hello Chris !
I really like this picture, the composition is wonderful ! They look great, standing on this old rotting stem. What I also like is that each hat has slightly a different shape. Excellent use of your flash and handkerchief. POV and blurred BG are beautiful too. Very well done !
