I havenít posted an Australian bird for a while, so Iíll take this opportunity to present a non-breeding male Golden-headed Cisticola (Cisticola exilis).
This species is found in coastal eastern and northern Australia especially in reedbed and adjacent vegetation around wetlands and along waterways. They will occasionally move into cultivated fields when the grain in seeding.
They breed from September to March and build the most beautiful domed nest that is bound together with spiders web. This one is perched in a Coastal She-oak (Casuarina glauca) a common tree around coastal wetlands in the south east of the continent.
This species is also found in New Guinea, South-east Asia, India and southern China.

Splendid point of view, Chris.
The bird seems to be holding on to the perch with the next station in mind. I guess its very sharply captured eye looking upward indicates that action.
Great view of the bird's plumage too.
TFS and regards.

Hello Chris,
A great shot of a Golden-headed Cisticola, A species I saw in Queensland but couldn't get anything like as good a capture as this. You got him in a fine pose from a great POV in the she-oak with excellent sharpness. I like the catchlight in the eye too
TFS this one,

Hello Chris,
This one was really well hidden in the thumbnail!! But on closer inspection it is a lovely sharp capture of this Cisticola in a beautiful Casuarina tree. I like the light and the sharp focus on the eye. Nicely framed too.
Many thanks, Ulla

Hi Chris,

This is a new bird for me and a very lovely one. The pose is wonderful showing off the nice face with the sparkle in his eye and the beautiful plummage. Nice natural colors that show up so well even with the busy background. A very nice composition.

Hello Chris,

good capture from the bird in his habitat.
I like the light in his eye.

Splendida cattura, ottimi POV e composizione con il groviglio di aghi, eccellente nitidezza e bellissima la luminositŗ dell'occhio, molto belli i colori. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio
