This species is remarkable for the extreme sexual dimorphism : you see here the female, the male is bright green with orange beak. It's hard to realize it's the same species.
It's a medium-sized parrot( about 35 cm) living in Solomon islands, New Guinea and Northern Australia. In fact the area where one can find it is very small in Australia (just around Cairns or about).
He prefers rainforests.
It is not threatened and commonly found as a pet.

I don't want to post a picture of a male because its quality is bad, but I put it on WS if is interesting for you. It's just to illustrate sexual dimorphism.

Bonjour Philippe,
A very nice capture of the female Eclectus Parrot. The clarity, pose, natural colours and composition are excellent.
When we visited Queensland over six years ago we also took a trip to Kuranda where we saw the butterfly house, but we missed the aviary.

an image that is well describing theat colourful species, the background, however, might be somewhat less interfering.
The image that you posted in the workshop does look good, no reason to hide it because of quality. It shows a lively pose frontally aproached, it is well composed and has a favourably clean and well contrasting background. An image well worth to be presented on its own.
