[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a spectacular butterfly that I saw in several locations in north Queensland. It is a male Ulysses butterfly - Papilio ulysses joesa. They don't stop still for you so this isn't the best view of one (my shots of ones properly displaying their wings were all out of focus). They are very erratic flyers.
It is widely recognized as North Queensland's unofficial emblem.
That finishes my little collection of tropical butterfly photos.

Hi Ian,i understand the difficult capture,a very nervous species like my last machaon always in mouvement, the result is still good and enough to watch the colors and the wings design of this wonderful beauty, well done! Have a nice SUnday and thanks,Luciano

Hi Ian,

spectacular indeed, and well done! It seems to me that the butterfly starts to fly, creating an upward force by flapping the wings all the way. I am envious, because that kind of shot has eluded me so far :-) . Thanks ian,
Greetings Dietrich

Ciao Ian, fantastic butterfly, wonderful colors, excellent clarity, fine details and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Ian,

The leaves are framing well the insect. The macro point of view is showing the details of the Ulysses butterfly. The light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
