Hi Gary,
Hello from a fellow West Australian.

Nice original view and sharp.
I am pretty sure it is a Purple Swamphen (Porphyrio porphyrio), related to Moorhens. The Dusky Moorhen has a smaller beak and the neck is grey rather than blue as in your photo.
