|The Blue Skimmer (Orthrtrum caledonicum) is a common dragonfly across most of the Australian continent and also New Guines and New Caledonia.|
This is a male, the females are yellow and I'll post that in a couple of days.
They frequent flowing watercourses and freshwater ponds and can found through most of the year in temperate areas.
This one was taken near where I live on the nepean River.

Excellent capture of the Blue Skimmer. This is sharp with good detail and I particularly like the contrast of colour between the skimmer and the slate-bluish BG while posed on a well mound of earthy colours. Nice composition.
