|I was lucky enough to snap this guy just as he had a stretch. The Grey Headed flying foxes seem to do this just before they wrap their wings around their bodies, tuck their heads in and sleep for the day.|
Their wingspan is just amazing as is the texture of their wings. At some angles their wings are translucent and appear brown. I know this shot is a little glary and it was a shame there were twigs in the way but I felt it was worth posting due to the sheer beauty of this little guy. Unfortunately you have to snap the picture when the moment happens and some subjects just don't give you the opportunity for a clear shot.

You're certainly right about grabbing shots like this when they come along. Most of us just don't have the time to sit around and wait for the perfect moment.
It may be possible to reduce the glare effect in this with selective working on the sky and trees, because the animals themselves do still have details.

Michelle, you managed to capture a great moment here. I enjoy bats, and this picture is nice.
Maybe lighting is not the ideal one, but that's a minor nit.
Excellent pov and composition.

Love the pose with the wings out stretched. Good detail in what is sen, however it is a shame about the branches in the way. Not every shot can be perfect but i love what you have here.

Fruit bats are nice and beautiful creatures, unlike their carnivorous cousins, with less friendly faces. I assme you FF is a fruitbat of some kind. Good to post pictures that tells a storey, and if you do not start with these, you can never progress to the ones on your wishlist. My wishlist has just grown by one more picture, thanks to this post.
Well done Michelle, not an easy moment to capture, they usuall just spred one wing at a time. This shot also looks nice and sharp.
