The Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novarguineae) is the largest ‘kingfisher’ in the world, with some males reaching 50cm in length. They are a fairly common species of open forests, woodlands and many urban areas of eastern Australia. Their well-known laughing call, which is often conducted in duets, is a familiar sound of the Australian bush.
In urban areas they can become quite tame and will regularly come to verandas and bird feeders to take advantage of a free meal. In their more natural habitats, they feed on large insects, lizards, worms and small birds.
This one was taken at the café on top of Cambewarra Mountain, near Nowra.
Thanks for looking.

Cordialement.

Good shot of this Kookaburra Chris. Well composed with a good POV/pose. So you had coffee with your Kookaburra?..Nice combo! ;-)

Hi Chris,

Excellent portrait and well done on the composition and details.
You handled the Fuji well, excellent work.
Just wondering, was there glass at the tail, there is a horizontal red flare.

Mike

You've captured this lovely model really good.
The POV and composition are perfect, lighting really nice. The focus on the eye seems to be a bit soft, but overall the photo has great quality and I like it very much.
WELL DONE & TFS

A beauty, Chris.
Still on my wish list, maybe next sprint I will get a kingsfisher.
Very good portrait, good composition and details.
Very well done.

beautiful Kookaburra that I never seen in my life...
very well done..

Very nice view of this bird, Chris! The clarity here is superb, and the depth of field really helps to set this bird apart and give it focus.

Hi Chris
I often heard of it spoken, but it is the premiere time that I see one of them, great shot

In a friendly way Christophe

Chris, I've never seen one of them. I'm not sure, but I guess we don't have them here in Brazil.

I like pose and vivid colors; excellent sharpness and details. It's also great the contrast between the bird and the bg.

Hi Chris
Great pose of the kookaburra on the pole or is it a window frame. The red sets off his white feathers beautifully. Lots of details.
