[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Bird Orchid (Pterostylis barbata)is a common terrestrial orchid endemic to the SW of Western Australia. I found this couple of plants flowering in late winter (August) in 2011. There is always a few of them flowering every year on my block, but usually in different spots from year to year. With the very poor soils, may be flowering takes too much energy and the plants do not re-flower every year.

Hi Odile,
great subject, I really like these good looking flowers!
The picture, in my opinion, has a too narrow field of view and the focusing point is not helping either. I think that focusing on the "bird's head" would have been better. Other than that... superb colors and nice bokeh.

WOW now what a great photo to wake up to!!! LOVE the artistic composition and overall portrayal you have dear Odile!! And your note so hopeful! Never heard of these orchids before and well, i am left spell bound again! Bokeh background of a mirror like image makes this composition profound

Hello Odile,
Nice capture with beautiful colours and taken from an interesting POV.TFS.

Hello Odile,
Wonderful to see the orchid which really looks like a bird's head! Nice composition and colors, but to be frank, the most important part of the subject or the head of the bird is blurred a little bit. If you had better DOF, the whole plant would have been clearer. Anyhow, good job. Thanks for sharing and have a nice weekend!

indeed bird-like, TFS Ori

Hello Odile
Great photo, good point of view, background and detail. Good to see this wonderful orchid

Wow! I think I would call that the planters peanut humming bird orchid. What an amazing flower. Almost looks like two hummers perched. Would be nice to see more images of this one. I am in agreement with the others as it would be nicer to have the part that looks like the head more in focus if not all of it. Thanks for sharing this fantastic anomaly. If you manage to take more of this species please ping me an email as I would love to see more images. :)
