The Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides) is a common Australian bird but more often heard than seen as it 'freezes' its body and blends in with the trees. Related to owls, it hunts at dusk, in a wide variety of habitats from golf courses to rainforests.
This one was photographed in the western Wheatbelt of SW of Western Australia during a rather hot summer day.
