[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Common Bronzewing (Phaps chacoptera) is very common Australian pigeon, found in all states of the continent and almost any habitat, although scarce in the drier parts of the country. The photo shows a female with a pale forehead, and the bronze-like wing patch characteristic of the species. Like many pigeons, they are wary, with an explosive flight when frightened. During breeeding, the males emit a deep slow 'oom' call which carries far, very different from the ubiquitous city pigeon calls.

Hello Odile,
What a gorgeous pigeon you have photographed and one that I am not at all familiar with. I love the multicolored wing patch it carries as well as it's beautiful markings.
I have had a great love for pigeons since I was a young boy and watched my cousins Homing Pigeons fly around the neighborhood.
Thank you for sharing this new bird with me and the other members on TN. Excellent detail and perfectly exposed.

A harmonious composition, a beautiful portrait of this Phaps chalcoptera. The work has a sweet calm, emphasized by the clear dark forest and the apparent serenity of the bird.

Congratulations, Odile!
