[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A very happy New Year to all.
A typical Australian image: a pair of Galahs (female with red eyes on the left) on a windmill.
The Galah (Cacatua roseicapilla) is also known by the name of Pink & Grey. This pair belongs to the West Australian sub-species assimilis, with a grey eye ring and pinker crest than the nominate species. Typical of the Australian bush, the Galahs are confident and noisy parrots, extremely common from the city to the semi-arid interior. They usually form large flocks, especially when roosting at night. There are already many photos of them on TrekNature, but I thought this pair looked particularly smug. |

Great shot of these galahs - colors are excellent. I tried to get some pictures a year ago, but they only turned up at dusk, and were very camera-shy, so I think you did well to capture this image.

Hallo Odile
They really are beautiful birds and it is great how you captured the pair together. It seems as if they posed especially for you. The pink feathers is eye-catching. Best regards and thanks for sharing.
