[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A very close up macro of an individual grevillea flower within the flower head. Their long pistil makes them difficult to photograph. I got attracted to the luminous red of the snail-like parts.
Grevillea are members of the Proteacae family (which includes Banksias and Proteas). Most are woody shrubs, with a number of large tree species. There are more than 200 species, mostly endemic to Australia, with many named garden varieties. They attract insects and honeyeater birds and make marvellous garden plants: tough, drought resistant, covered in flowers, and many with attractive foliage.

What a gorgeous and unique looking flower you have presented to us. Love it's unusual shape and vivid yet natural colors. I don't believe I have ever viewed this particular plant before, so thank you for sharing this nice close-up with us all here on TN.
