The Eastern Water Skink (Eulamprus quoyii) is a large robust skink about 200mm long. It is found in a variety of forested habitats through much of eastern Australia, though its nearly always near water, as its name suggests. They can also be found in dwellings bordering forested areas.

This one was taken at my office where they are common, but difficult to get in a suitable pose as they are easily disturbed. The shot is cropped from the original with 20% unsharp mask applied. I must admit cloning out a bright area to the left of the foreleg. This individual has several mites around its nasal grove, which I didn’t see until downloading

Very good catch, Chris. I'm always impressed by these lizards standing up on the fore legs to look bigger to their predators. This one is superb, with those well detailed scales and it's proud expression. Fill-in flash use was a good choice here.

This is a beautiful sharp capture. The DOF is excellent and I like thecomposition that includes the whole tale.

Thanks for posting

Nice catch Chris. You capture the details very well. Nice pose too. The whites are a bot bright in places but its a fine catch all together.

Chris, Interesting capture with those little critters seemingly balanced on the nose this way. Good comp. that has included the whole lizard. Good supporting note. TFS
