[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Swordgrass Brown (Tisiphone abeona) is a relatively common butterfly of coastal south-eastern Australia. It is found only in association with sword sedges (Ghania sp) usually near permanent streams and wetlands.
This one was captured in woodland at Kellys Falls. As can be observed, this male has seen better days; males patrol a territory and spend a lot of time chasing rival males out of their domain, but such battles take their toll.

Very good post Chris. Great sharpness and DOF. Point of view is super. Excellent overall.

A very nice butterfly capture. The colors and detail on the butterfly are very good. I like this plant as a backround, it makes a good contrast to the butterfly. I think the flash overexposed the bottom part of the plant alittle. He does appear to have been in some battles.

I think it would have been better not to center the butterfly.
