Coatesville Native Bush

This weekend one of my sons moved house to Coatesville, 20kms north-west of where we live. And I was so excited to see this NZ native bush in his backyard.

He is on is 10 acres in an area where a farm has been subdivided into 10-20 acre blocks and sold. Many farm sheep, chickens, goats and horses, etc. This native bush is government owned, I hope, and therefore should not be cut down.

Some of the trees you can see here are:
Kauris, Tree Ferns, silver and others, Cabbage trees, Manuka, Kanuka, Karaka, Puriri, Rimu, Totara, Nikau Palm and many more.

I canít wait to get among the trees and spend a few hours there one day (and many other days too).

I know the sky is over-exposed, Iím sorry, but this is as it was, and Iím not changing it. It has been raining all day today but the rain had stopped when I took this photo. You can see the water vapour rising from the bush to the air above.

What do you think of this view?

A striking view Janice, I like the lines of the fence going in synchrony with the lines of the bush. The evaporating water on top of the trees in nicely captured. With a point of view like this, there is not much you can do about the over-exposed sky unfortunately. You could have taken two tripod shots, one exposed for the sky and one for the field and blend them together in post-processing. On the other hand, the sky doesn't distract me at all from this image. Well done,

nice shot Jancie,
great light, fantastic effect, the green is nice, well the whole composition is good, I like the shot,
gr. jaap

Hi Janice,

I absolutely love the green meadow, the color is stunning! I do find the sky a bit too white, but there is nothing you could do about that, so I won't blame you. ;) Seriously, this is a good picture. Well composed! TFS!

Hello Janice,
Good news. SOme Europeans come to NZ and think the wide open grass hills would be nature. What I don't like in NZ (although it is still looking beautifull) are the man made landscapes and the lack of authentic environment. Good to know it is there. You/your son have found some.TFS.

Hello Janice!
Really amazing place to live! I would like to move there too :-)))
Your pictures make NZ closer and closer for me!

Janice, very beautiful composition... a great moment... a great shot... very well done

Good news Janice - now you've got good place to photograp nature :-) I hope Wayne will be glad! Good looking 'wall' of green trees, I'll be waiting for close-ups of some of them.

Janice, vivid shades of green in the bottom of the photo. As you mentioned, overexposure in the sky, but I know that it's not always we can have clear blue sky to choose.

I like composition too.

Personal assessment of the photo: very good.
Good visual impact.
Aptness of the photo for the site: excellent.
Personal assessment of the note: complete.
Thank you Janice.
I would like to have such bush in my backyard. Only a marsh with a blue heron missing ;-).
We had exeptional weather here: around + 29C during more than a week. So I was outdoor taking a lot of photos. Today all returns to normal: + 10C with rain.
