Another Pretty Pheasant

This is another of the Pheasants living in the aviary at Twin Lakes in Coatesville, Auckland. I photographed it through the wire mesh of the cage it was in, and I am pleased how the wire hasn't shown up here.

If anyone knows the name of this pretty lady, please let me know.

It is later here in NZ and I'll check it out tomorrow.

Good night!!

Hi Janice!
Pretty, but with sad eye, I think. Good portrait, I like especially big, shinning eye. Colours are rather grey, but birds looks very good :-) Good night my friend!

Hi Janice,
Even though it's the male with all the colour, I still think the colouring on the females is beautiful too, especially this one. I have no idea of the ID but she is a pretty lady! Nice shot, good detail and DOF, nice splash of colour in the BG too. Great work.
Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Janice
It looks like it could be a female Ringed-neck pheasant - Phasianus colchicus. Very well captured and nicely presented portrait.
Great composition and crop with excellent natural colours and amazing details. The bird is well isolated from the BG and the lighting was very well controlled.
Very good work and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Janice,
This is another nice shot in your series..
Great results, even with the wire mesh!
I don't know the species name, but "Pretty lady" sound good to me :)

A good portrait, really sharp and detailed.
I like these soft colors.

Lovely Picture Janice.

here are my observations

* The eye of the bird is exactly in the golden means making it a text book composition ! super.

* The sharpness is exemplerary. The eyes espcially is very sharp, I bet that in the enlarged picture one could see the whole reflection.

* Even though the bird is not 'colourful' in the liternal sense, its beautiful with its own shades of borwns, whites and reds.

My 2 cents,

* Do you think the BKG could have fuzzed out a little more ?... just a thought.

Thanks for sharing this very beautiful picture.

Nice focus on the eye. Well seen, Janice, have a great week!

Hi Janice, Perfect clarity to see every feather. Good work to have focus working so well. I have trouble with the bacground being in focus and the bird less so. Any setting tips welcome. Tks Murray.
