Lake Matheson, near the Fox Glacier in South Westland, New Zealand, is famous for its reflected views of Aoraki/Mount Cook and Mount Tasman. A traditional mahinga kai (food gathering place) for Māori people, the lake contains long finned eel as well as being home to many water birds.

Lake Matheson was formed by glaciation ca. 14,000 years ago. It is situated on the valley floor about 12km from the current Fox Glacier and Aoraki/Mount Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand, and Mount Tasman.

Hi Pam,
Beautiful landscape photo, you have captured so much in one shot. I like the misty mountains (Im not referring to 'Lord of the Rings') in the background and the others with snow on it. Wonderful sharp foreground, just the perfect setting for a landscape.
regards
Matt.

Hi Pam,
This looks absolutly great. This is a very good landscape with perfect reflection in the water.
Because of the trees you created depth in this picture. Misty mountains and with snow on them.

Hello Pam,
I bet every time you look at this you think 'Now why AM I living in Auckland again ?'
Once you've visited some of these places, the lure to go back there forever becomes irresistable.
Mind you,it might be a bit cold living near Mt Cook.
She's a fair way South ay ?

Hello Pam,
It is a fine capture of this magnificient landscape!
The side light in combination with some haze in the back creates this great sense of depth, an almost 3D effect...
Warm attractive colours, pleasant reflection!
