Indian Peafowl Female (Peahen)

Species (Latin): Pavo cristatus

Shape: Upland-Ground Bird

Family: Pheasants, Quails and Partridges (Odontophoridae)

A large bird with royal blue neck, white face and fan-shaped brown crest. Rather drab in comparison to the male and lacks long, showy tail feathers. The throat and forepart of the neck are white, breast and back of the neck are brownish black, fringed with green; head is chestnut; underparts are pale buff to cream, back is light brownish-gray indistinctly mottled with buff. Legs and feet are gray. The National Bird of India. This species is sometimes simply called the Peacock; the peacock is the male, females are known as peahens and the young are peachicks.

Excellent Pam. Her pose and the angle that you took of this regal looking bird is superb. I love the colour of her feathers. She may be drab, but here she looks very queenly. Well shown.

Superb portrait Pam! This bird looks very presumptous to me but with this grass in beak looks just funny. Detailed, sharp, with great BG. Another very good picture!

Good portrait of this bird, I think that you should use higher aperture to get more DOF it is too shallow.
