Well seen and well taken. The pose of the penguin is great, it's position in the frame and the reflection. The contrasts in the image have been well handled and the diagonal of the water's edge through the frame adds interest and impact. Excellent!
Did you take this at the Yellow-eyed Penguin lookout? Or were you lucky enough to see this one elsewhere on the peninsula? I'd love to have a shot like this!

Hello James,
A very attractive omposition!
The surf almost touching the bird, that reflects nicely in the wet sand... wonderful!
Simplicity is striking, great details!

Hi James,
A wonderful shot of this wet Penguin. He looks so lonely with only his reflection to keep him company. Excellent composition with the water rolling into shore.

Hello James,
This is a splendid capture of this Penguin all isolated on the beach. I like the diagonal line of the surf and the reflection of the Penguin in the wet sand. Fine details and colours too in this lovely composition.

We saw these penguins when we visited here many years ago. And I believe the viewing area is MUCH better then what they had back then.
Good shot James, and especially the reflection in the wet sand,
TFS

This Penguin is like a regally-robed emperor walking home after his "walk" on the sea, James :-)!
Its reflection on the wet beach is certainly the most beautiful component of this picture. In addition, I also like the colour contrasts between the waves and the beach.
Thanks for sharing and regards.

Hi James
What I like most here is the fact that this guy seems exhausted and that he is so glad to come back home after a hard day work :)! I get this impression form its pose and nonchalant way of walking. I also like this composition but I wish that you could be a little closer to him, just a bit to see clearly its expression :) Well done!

It looks like Venus coming out of the foam... or a spy in mission impossible... great picture, James, really great. I love the silhouette in the sand, the foam close to the penguin and its nobility that you captured. The light is superb and I too like the division of the frame, very nice. Thanks,
Francine

I like the birds reflection and overall composition, with the penguin just ahead of the waters edge on the diagonal.
Good details, color, POV, and exposed well.
