After your stunning landscapes, this is a bit of a surprise for me -- a wonderful macro image of a butterfly which I have not seen before, Tony.
The image is excellent from an effective perspective with wonderful colours and details on the wings. The specimen is a bit worn, but that is immaterial.
Well done and TFS.

ID not me...but soon Ivan will be here:-) That's a pretty sharp image Tony...Amazing with the depth of field control and being so low in aperture...and the clarity is superior as well...AND you didn't loose any saturation. Looks just right!

Hi Tony. If this one was captured in Malaysia, I would have it named Blue Moon (Hypolimnas bolina).:-) The shot is amazingly sharp with excellent focus and shallow depth. The markings on the wings are well seen and the framing is beautiful. Good work and thanks for sharing. Best regards. Jusni

Hey Tony,
An occasional b-fly or two does entice you isnt it?:)
Nice work here with a fine PoV cpaturing the details on its wings..a slight flutter in the upperwings and the focus is maintained sharp on the lower wing...i wudnt take a chance with the ID as I 'm no expert at IDs.
TFS & Cheers

Hi Tony,

No ID from me - the few times I posted butterflies someone had to come to my rescue. This is a pretty one with lovely colors and elegant markings.Very good details of the face, body and wings. A very good macro - you should do more of them.

Hello Tony,
Jusni is right: this is one of the sub-species of the Great Egg Fly (Hypolimnas bolina). It has been described as one of the most variable butterflies in the world.
I fine sharp image taken from a good POV in this closed-wing pose.
Best wishes,

Hi Toni!

You present us a nice surprise, a different beauty, but still one... very fine composition and colour management. I'm glad to see that the competent TN members already have identified it.

Kind regards

Hello HO, Fantastic shot and a superb view. Brilliant color Ganesh

A fine butterfly specimen I'm sure I'm seeing for the first time Tony, the darkish pattern of the wings look so intricate, even though the tips of the anterior wings are a little damaged. And what are those yellow spherical things on the leaves my friend?
Cheers and best wishes from Izmir,

Hi Tony. Nice to see a butterfly from you. The poor thing has lost part of its wing. You have good detai land rich colours.well done TFS.

Hi Tony.
Amazing scene, impressive POV and great composition of the image. I like precise DOF and superb sharpness of the butterfly image. However, it would be better (for my taste) to use fill flash. Wings of the butterfly seems underexposed a bit. My best regards and TFS.

Hey Tony,

Nice Angle, Nice POV... The sharpness is also so awesome... I guess the light was not so super when you clicked, isn't it? Or was the light coming from the opposite side? It's so beautiful composition... I love this snap...

Thanks for sharing it!

Hello Tony !
Fisrt, I want to thank you for your kind comments on my pictures, I really appreciate. I always like to see butterflies on pictures, even those with broken wings, like this one. He looks quite big on your picture. I love hos you capture his rolled 'tongue'. Excellent details, and very nicely composed. The vivid green leaves make a nice contrast with the grey BG. Very well done !
