[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi All,

Well I've been totally snowed under of late, but the end is in sight. To add to my dilemma, Auckland has been rather bleak over the last 3 weeks with constant rain and general bad weather. Anyway, today was a good day to get out there --- so I did.

I've been trying to shoot these swallows in flight for months, and all I get is a blur. I guess I need better reactions. I've never seen one sitting down, although it is obvious that they have to. Anyway today I was tracking this old boy and trying to get some flying shots of him and he went and sat down just for me. Now I know that the presence of the cable is rather sad, I would have loved a twig or something natural, but I've had such a withdrawal of late, I have to say that I'm happy with the shot.

Anyway, a close family member has arrived from overseas and we're looking at doing some touring around New Zealand over the next 3 months so I hope to have some nice shots to share with you all.

I hope that you enjoy this old boy,

Hey, Erich. Welcome back. : ) You are a man of your word.
I am thrilled to see a picture of yours on TN again, cable and all.
That swallow is very well captured. The focus is very sharp, and the light is excellent, as we can appreciate all the nuances of brown on his plumage. The POV is perfect, and the glint in his eye tells me he must have given you a good run for your money. He looks resigned to have his picture taken, just to get this big human to stop chasing him all over the place. Haha... Well done and thanks for sharing. : )

Congratulations Erich! It isn't often you see a good photo of these swallows, as they move so fast, and I often find that the shiny head seems to look wrong. But you have managed this one fine. Good pose on the cable, nice and sharp, and I like the glint in his eye. Well done.

Very nice shot!
Excellent sharpness, nice colour.

Real beauty Erich. Lovely shinning colours, details on feathers, sharpness. Composition is very good and it works very well on green, calm BG. Good one!

Nice shot. I don't mind the cable, it helps show just how little these guys are.
I await some travelling pictures. have fun.
Nice composition.
OOF BG works perfectly.
Great work

Hi Erich

Lovely capture. The pose and the colours are both outstanding. Nice catchlight in the eye. We have dozens of these Welcome Swallows at Shakespear Regional Park. They like to sit on the top of the low timber piles that are around the edge of the park. Difficult to get close though.

Congrats, it's good work!

Nice shot, very well composed.
Well done.
