I only had Augustus the blue tongue ozzy skink for a short time before we lost him to a stroke. He was only two years old but had a rough start to life with his first owner. I have keep and breed New Zealand geckos and skinks for almost 30 years but was never prepared for a lizard having a stroke. It is so easy to buy critters at a pet store but for some the new owner knows nothing about the life cycle and needs. For this Australian lizard it cost him his life. he came to me far to late he had a gutter down his back under weight and lacked in calcium but the worst thing is that he had been woken up from hibernation and put back under lights witch melted its little brain slowly. With the Hamilton zoo vet we tried to save him but sadly we lost the battle and the only choice we had been to put him to sleep.

Hi Gareth. So this was your Blue Tongued Skink. I remember you said he was ill...didn't know he'd died though.
It's hard to know what to say at a time like this. I realise what you and your extended family must be going through, and I hope you'll offer my condolences to all concerned.
...but seriously...Bugger! After all those vet bills too!

Great colours, nice detail. Pity the poor guy isn't around for a few more shots.

Gareth, this looks like a legged-snake. Probably because of the POV you chose - which is great.

Excellent composition and sharpness. The shot is a little scary - and that's nice too.
