The beautiful Otter was on the roof of his home on the other side of the enclosure until my husband decided he was going to have a cigarette. He took his tabacco out of his pocket, opened it up, and like a rocket, this fella was at the fence standing on his back legs looking intently at my husband with his beautiful big eyes. No, sweety.... you can't have that! Thanks for looking.

Oriental Small-clawed Otter (Aonyx cinerea)

Otters are small amphibious mammals that live in and around rivers. They are actually related to meerkats and skunks! All otters are carnivores and feed on fish, eels and shellfish. Otter species are endangered around the world because of loss of their ideal habitat, through pollution and deforestation

Otters enjoy gymnastic rough and tumble - tobogganing on their stomachs in the mud! They are very strong swimmers using their tail to sweep from side to side, helped by their webbed feet.

Hi Pam
So who says cigarettes are bad? Sorry, this is a family site...it is bad, very bad. Now try and tell that to the otter. There is one thing that bothers me though. Is that droplets of water or is it an outburst of sweat due to cold-turkey and therefore the reason why he was so quick to react on your husbands moves?
Great timing and capture of a very beautiful pose. The composition is fine, the details are superb, and the exposure was first class.

great picture. Great sharpness, you can almost make out every little drop of water on its fur and whiskers.
